Alison Hamer Addresses University Risk Managers About Undocumented Students

Hirschfeld Kraemer LLP’s Alison Hamer is co-presenting “Legal Issues Pertaining to Sanctuary, DACA, Dreamers, and ICE Investigations” at the University Risk Management & Insurance Association (URMIA) 49th Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 2, 2018.
Along with Karen Davis, VP of Administration and Finance at California Lutheran University, Alison will provide an overview of the continuously changing legal issues that colleges are currently facing for undocumented students, from sanctuary campus consideration and DACA issues to ICE raids and audits.
It is uncertain exactly what the federal government will ultimately decide regarding illegal immigration reform and DACA students in the coming months. This session will provide the most current update and offer suggestions/advice on how to be best prepared to properly assist your undocumented students and remain compliant with the laws, as well addressing the possible conflicts with federal and state laws that colleges must comply with.
