Christine Helwick Interviewed on WHDH-Boston about Campus Closings Due to Coronavirus
Christine Helwick was interviewed Tuesday, March 10, 2020 by WHDH-TV Boston about university campus closings in Massachusetts in response to the coronavirus.
The segment is entitled “Which Mass. colleges are shutting down amid coronavirus outbreak?” and reports, following the Massachusetts governor declaring a state of emergency, Harvard, M.I.T., Tufts, and many other colleges and universities in Massachusetts are “erring on the side of caution” by switching to online classes and requiring students to move out of on-campus housing as of this coming weekend.
Noting that the decision was not an easy one for the schools to make, but a necessary one, Helwick commented:
“I think it’s going to take some time before we sort out all the other things that go along with those decisions — costs, making up time, travel — many, many other things that are going to flow from those decisions. But at this point, I think the most important decisions are the public health concerns.”
