In the middle of my career as an employment lawyer at HK, I switched gears and accepted a role as head of HR/People Ops for a fast-growing tech startup. We scaled from 12 to 150 employees, from seed stage to Series B. After three years, I returned to the firm with a unique skill set that combines a deep understanding of employment law coupled with the ability to convert sound legal advice into practical solutions. I love helping businesses find creative ways to solve complicated HR legal issues.
China Daly is an associate in the firm’s San Francisco office. Her experience includes representing employers in employment-related disputes, including single plaintiff disputes and class action/PAGA cases. China has represented employers in administrative investigations and hearings before the DFEH, EEOC, DIR and OSHA. She also has experience representing unionized employers in arbitration. China’s advice and counsel practice encompasses the full employee lifecycle. She also serves as a neutral investigator into claims of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and conducts trainings and webinars on various employment and privacy law topics.
China lives in Oakland with her partner, daughter and 3 cats. She enjoys being outside, staying active and reading. In college, China was a member of the UCLA Bruin Marching Band – she hopes to one day pick back up the hobby of playing trombone and other brass instruments.
