Steve Hirschfeld Comments on Otto/Google Trade Secret Suit

Steve Hirschfeld is quoted on USA Today in the article titled, "Uber says trade theft case is between Otto chief and Google." The article details a case brought by Google alleging a former employee in its self-driving unit Waymo provided Uber self-driving truck subsidiary Otto with trade secrets related to laser sensor technology.

Faced with this lawsuit, Uber has sought to move the matter to private binding arbitration, citing the employee in question's original employment contract with Google. Doing so would shield Uber from public scrutiny related to the suit.

Steve commented on the potential impact of moving to arbitration:

Arbitration is generally “quicker, cheaper and more efficient, and it’s confidential and private,” he said.
